L'Islamic Education Center (IEC) : Missions, Éducation et Spiritualité à Washington

L'Islamic Education Center (IEC) Incorporation in Potomac, Maryland is one of the most active Islamic center of the East coast, USA. En tant qu'institution, it is a non-profit, registered religious organization and aims at serving the immigrant Muslim community in the Potomac and the surrounding Washington Area.

Histoire et Mission du Centre

The Islamic Education Center (IEC) Incorporation was established in 1998 as non-profit institute. Selon ses principes directeurs, the mission of the center is to promote Islam through culture and belief. Pour atteindre ses objectifs, the center holds further Islamic activities to promote unity and to serve the needs of community members and the community at large. Il est précisé que the Islamic Education Center promotes unity and invites all to serve Islam by taking an active role in the development of the Islamic society in which they reside.

Programmes Religieux et Activités

Le centre propose des services spirituels réguliers pour la communauté :

• The center holds daily Maghrib and Isha prayers.
• On Tuesday nights, after prayers, there are Tafsir class and then Du'a Tawassul is recited.
• On Thursday nights, there is a lecture on Islamic ethics based on Mi'raj al-sa'ada and then Du'a al-Kumayl is recited.
• The center also holds Friday prayer.
• On Friday nights, a questions and answers session about miscellaneous topics follows narration of stories from Qur'an and Nahj al-balagha.

Inspiration du Saint Coran

Dans le cadre de l'éducation religieuse, la série Inspiration from the Holy Quran met en avant le travail de Sayyid M.B. Kashmiri. Durant cette série, Sayyid M.B. Kashmiri visits various Islamic centers in the Washington metropolitan area and takes an exegetical look at the Islamic calligraphy in the interior and exterior of each center. À travers l'exégèse, he aims to derive inspiration and lessons from the holy book for the Month of Ramadan.

Services et Installations Éducatives

L'offre éducative est centrale au sein de l'institution. A full time school (since 1986) called the Muslim Community School (MCS) serving grades “K” to high school also runs in affiliation with the IEC. Les membres ont également accès à des ressources numériques, car there is an online library on the center's website which holds both Persian and English titles.
